Cloud Storage Idea

I have been brainstorming, mocking-up designs, etc for a cloud storage service. Everything is not set in stone and probably going to change. Let me know what you think and if you can help with developing, please message!

I've Been Doing Some Stuff

You probably don't know, but I have been off for awhile working on a project. Yes, I actually do other things. My expertise is in UX design or interaction design, I cannot decide between which one to call it. For my off, I have been gaining more skill in UXD (User Experience Design) also while I was away. What does this mean for you, because I don't write just to explain my life in detail, I write to explain my adventures in web design, UX design, and other digital art garble. These "adventures" are not really stories, but information and hints on the matter, learn from what I have don... but I digress. I will be posting more about UX design, as it's something I have been focusing more of my life around. I will also be showing you work I have made and in some ways, showing you how to make better experience for the people who use what you create.

Here I have some old work I have made, I always hate to show these, but it fills some space.

I think this was a week ago.

Like my post and I'll give you some brownie points.

  8. A Gmail notification icon has been added, will work with other compatible programs too.
  9. To signify that you are in search, an arrow was added pointing towards the magnifying glass.
  10. "Images for Ubuntu" were moved higher, which is now visible.
  11. A new look was implemented with the Google Plus box.
  12. The top navigation bars were condensed to allow more search result room.
Hope you like it, by that I mean the button.

If you have another change I should make to the next one, please let me steal it from you.

Ubuntu Software Centre Redesign - Introduction

The current design of the Ubuntu Software Centre

Later this week I will post my new look for the Ubuntu Software Centre front page. I usually can come up with a redesign in one to two days, but I want to take some time with this one. Like usual, I will post little sneak peeks while I am working. Later next year, I with to create it page by page, for a fully function web based app store. Like Apple has iTunes for web app downloads, I want to create a Ubuntu version of that. Unlike my usual designs, where they are not really functional, they work though, I want to create something my viewers can actually use to do something.

I am wanting to see if I can work with Ubuntu on it, or then I wouldn't be allowed to have it Ubuntu named.

Have started work on it by the way, and yes, this is all I do everyday.

Thunderbird Mail Redesign (Ubuntu version)

Have you seen the mail client for Ubuntu, well then you know it needs some work. This is my second shot at building a mail client, but the first one just doesn't fit my design language anymore, it looks alright, but... I digress. The new concept Thunderbird for Ubuntu is designed to be more intuitive, is just works and looks good at the same time. The current Thunderbird, looks a bit lacking in features, I would say easy-to-use, since there like three different options.

My later designs, especially for Ubuntu, are moving away from gradients, still have them, but use less of it. I believe that great design is the function, if its function is amazing, the design will follow. I don't need to gloss everything up like I use to with previous creations, but I digress.

Let's get back to Thunderbird now. On the left side of the application you have all of your emails, the more you get the will just show above the next one, the last one moves down. To refresh your mail box, just roll over the "Last updated" by the bottom and a refresh icon will show, just click it and your mail inbox will refresh. At the top, you have your account name, with a drop down menu that you can use to change account, go to chat, and other emailish options. The sort feature is just a simple tool for organizing your mail box the way you care to.

Your mail box is connected to other services, like Facebook, Twitter, Skype(if you can call it that anymore), Myspace(it's cool again), and others like. When you compose an email, you have the ability to make, let's just say, Facebook as a recipient and also add LinkedIn. You can write your text, then when you send your text, it will pop up on Facebook and LinkedIn.

All of your options on an email is at the bottom on the right. I don't need to explain what they do. Your choices of what mail box you want are at the top, next to the current one your at already. To compose an email, at the right to those options, you'll see a pen, click on that and you are in compose mode.

Current version 0.2.0
