Whats Happening with Wix

I would just like to update you on what I sent to Wix.

I wanted to start with a new flash editor to work on, but when I went to the "Create" page, I only found HTML blank templates to start. I have been getting the impression for awhile that Wix is lessening it's Flash involvement. I and   many other people as well would like to know if this is true, will you continue to improve the Flash Editor?

Another item of mention, I would love to use the HTML editor instead of Flash, but whats holding me back? The lack of ability to do more then just websites, the creation to do more. Can you make http://inevoke.wix.com/thetaphone/revision3 in the HTML editor, or http://inevoke.wix.com/exodash/build5? I love the free range of stuff you can create with Flash, but with the HTML editor you cannot, everything feels guided. The HTML editor should be just like the Flash version, but the end result it in HTML. Even if your not going to change the HTML editor, at least keep the Flash editor alive, for people who like the freedom it offers.

Plus I like to take screen shots of my stuff made in Flash, so some of it never hits the public anyways. For my closing, my whole (most, actually) website designing career stands in your Flash editor, so limiting the Flash editor, limits my career.

To support my inquire, please leave a comment on here (which is next to useless, if you have seen my view stats) or head over to wix.com/support/forum/flash/editor/other/why-are-you-making-creating-a-new and leave a comment.

I will keep you informed if anything occurs from this letter. Thank you

(NEW) Blender Tutorial: How to Make 3D Text

 Please watch in HD

My first Blender tutorial, which becomes obvious in the video. The tutorial shows you how to make 3d text in Blender Cycles. I do not use the internal render anymore, since is going to be discontinued. I will most likely make a new Blender tutorial on text later next month. Please enjoy the video, for how terrible it is, and subscribe.

Wix Tutorial: Backing up Flash Website

You will not be able to open it in the editor, but you can save the site for viewing offline by:
Safari - "File" > "Save as"

Firefox - http://www.techerator.com/2010/03/firefox-tip-how-to-easily-save-websites-for-later-reading/

Chrome - press  Ctrl+S.

Internet Exploder - same as Safari

Probably didn't help, but it is useful for presentations in my experience.

Wix Tutorial: Drop Down Menus

I unfortunately have seen people on Wix using the drop down menus Wix "sort of" provides. To be honest, the are ghastly. Your website needs brilliant navigation, without good navigation you will have people leaving your site, your visitors will get confused. In this tutorial, you will know how to make a top horizontal menu bar with drop down.

Step one
Everything you know about menus, get rids of them.

Step one plus one
Go to the "add" tile > clip art > shapes. In the shapes page, click on "Basic" in the left side menu. In that menu choose the square.

Step four subtract one
Now that you have your square (blue box with transparent border), you can start with the menu bar. Make the square in the ratios you desire, but usually along the top, and extending across the full website. To make it the color you want, click on color under the shape menu. Then you can make it what you wish.

Step two plus two
Contemplate a new seating posture.

Step the last one plus one
Back to the add menu, find page parts > page groups. Choose the only one on that page, make sure to delete the text it comes with. With the text, I just told you to add to your menu, align your drop down menu with the text centered. Make the width to fit in between the text on both sides and the length to how many links you believe you'll have.

Step half of ten
Start on page two of the page group. You can really do what ever you want here, like creating a square and having a drop down like that, or have no square at all and just text. Add text links to  pages in the page group.

Step 3!
You now need to link everything. Click on your menu text that you have chosen for your drop down, then link.

Step 2(3.5)
You may want multiple drop downs, so all you have to do is right click on the page group and "duplicate". Align the page group to your menu, then change the texts to fit the content.

Update Nov 3, 2012

Recently updated the current InfinityForge website bit.ly/infinityforge. The new site will be out by next month, probably, and sorry for how the current one looks. That is because in the progress of making the new one, the last one took a bit of damage.

The "Coming soon" page will be out by this week.

An update for the CWP will be published before this week ends.
